The gas measuring systems for explosive gases and vapors made by J. Dittrich Elektronic determine the concentration of explosive gases and vapors in air in an ambient temperature from -10 to +50° C.
A pellistor or semiconductor sensor detects methane (CH4), hydrogen (H2), propane (C3H8), alcohol and benzine; additional hydrocarbons on request.
The calibration is carried out with the aid of the respective test gas by means of a potentiometer; however, a certain amount of cross-sensitivity of the sensor with regard to the other substances always remains.
Low-cost infrared measuring system for methane
Since the cross-sensitivity of the sensors gives rise to problems when monitoring methane, J. Dittrich Elektronic developed a new infrared measuring system which detects specifically methane quicker, more accurately and at less cost than conventional infrared systems.

Minco models AH71, AH72, and AH73 are 2-wire temperature compensated humidity transmitters that are FM and CFM approved for use in hazardous locations. Intrinsically safe models are available with an optional temperature transmitter output. The AH73 is also available with an optional digital display for remote indication of relative humidity and temperature.
The transmitters utilize a thin film capacitive humidity sensor which provides outstanding sensitivity and chemical robustness. The transmitter converts the humidity sensor’s signal into a 4 to 20 mA DC current, which changes proportionally from 4 mA at 0% RH to 20 mA at 100% RH. The optional temperature loop produces a second 4 to 20 mA DC output where the current changes from 4 mA at the lowest temperature of the range, to 20 mA at the top of the temperature range. The leads that supply power also carry the current signal.
- Accuracy of ±2.5% RH
- Temperature compensated
- Temperature output option
- One-point field calibration
- NIST traceable calibrations

Vaisala HUMICAP® Humidity and Temperature Transmitter Series HMT360
The HMT360 transmitter can be installed directly into an explosive area, even those classified as having a constant risk of explosion (Zone 0 / Division 1). The HMT360 complies with strict classifications from FM (USA), PTB (CENELEC, Europe), CSA (Canada), TestSafe (Australia) and TIIS (Japan).
Five models are available for a variety of applications:
- HMT361 for wall mounting
- HMT363 for confined spaces
- HMT364 for high pressures (up to 100 bar/1450 psig) or vacuum
- HMT365 for high temperatures (up to +180 ºC / 356 °F)
- HMT368 for pressurized pipelines as high as 40 bar (580 psig)
The transmitters measure relative humidity between 0...100 %RH. As calculated variables they also output dewpoint and wet bulb temperature, mixing ratio and absolute humidity. The structure of the transmitter is modular: the interchangeable probes are easy to remove and calibrate.

With its expertise in nuclear techniques, BTI provides innovative and reliable solutions for explosives detection. BTI is the first and only company in the world to successfully build landmine detection equipment based on thermal neutron analysis (TNA). Systems equipped with BTI’s TNA sensors have been deployed by the Canadian military for anti-tank mine applications. On-going refinements in detection algorithms and the implementation of a specially-designed, compact electronic neutron generator continue to yield dramatic performance improvements. BTI is applying TNA and similar nuclear interrogation techniques to a wide range of explosives detection applications.
A recent demonstration of the breadth of BTI capabilities was the project for the Canadian Department of National Defence involving the development of a thermal neutron analysis (TNA) sensor for the Integrated Landmine Detection System. This sensor uses a 252Cf source (an accelerator-based neutron interrogation system was also developed) to activate nitrogen in landmine explosives, and then detect the resultant high-energy gamma rays.
- Improved Landmine Detection System (ILDS) built for Canadian Department of National Defence
- First anti-tank mine detection system in the world to use TNA (thermal neutron analysis)
- 4 units built for DND (2 units currently deployed in Afghanistan with Canadian Forces)
- Next generation TNA sensor currently in development
