Belt filters separate the liquid and solid components in sludge and other suspensions. The suspension is compressed between two cloth belts which are squeezed together by rollers. The filter cake falls into a container at the end of the belt. The filtered liquid drains into a receptacle beneath the apparatus and is removed.
