Rotary tool-holders are used on lathes to perform milling, drilling and threading operations. They use an internal drive system which allows for rotary cutting operations on lathes. Rotary tool-holders are also commonly called live tool-holders or driven tool-holders.
Rotary tool-holders can perform milling, drilling, facing, boring and threading operations on CNC and Swiss type lathes.
Rotary tool-holders can either be oriented as axial or radial type and can be offset from the mounting shaft. Rotary speed can range from 3 000 - 10 000 RPM depending on the model and application. They include through and external coolant options as well as special sealing options for rugged environments.
When selecting a rotary tool-holder be sure to specify the type of machine you are working with as the tool-holder adapter changes between certain machines.
