Rotary tool holders are used on lathes to perform milling, drilling and threading operations. They use an internal drive system for rotary cutting. They are also commonly called live or driven tool holders.
These devices are suitable for milling, drilling, facing, boring and threading on computer numeric control (CNC) and Swiss type lathes.
Such tool holders can be oriented as axial or radial types, and may be offset from the mounting shaft. Speed ranges from 3000 to 10,000 RPM, depending on model and application. They include through and external coolant options, as well as special sealing options for harsh environments.
When selecting a rotary tool holder, be sure its adapter is suitable for the machine on which it will be used.
