The Zaxis 35U-3 meets customer demands for operating comfort, enhanced safety, and easier maintenance. Like all Hitachi compacts, it comes standard with a swinging boom and backfill blade. The reinforced D-shaped frame is like those found on larger models of the Zaxis family. The highly durable box-section frame, enlarged counterweight, and weighted undercarriage lower the center of gravity and increase stability.

* 4,000-hour hydraulic oil and 1,000-hour hydraulic oil filters.
* HN bushings on all front attachments and blade joints.
* Anti-drift valve reduces front-end drift.
* Mechanical quick coupler.
* Boom-mounted auxiliary hydraulic lines and an auxiliary return-flow selector valve accommodate both one- and two-way hydraulically driven attachments.
* Auxiliary hydraulics now operated with a switch conveniently positioned atop the right-hand pilot lever.
* Automatic shifting between high and low travel speeds allows model to shift into low when more power is needed, without operator intervention.
* Zero-tail swing.
* 4-pillar canopy and 12-inch (300 mm) rubber shoes standard; enclosed cab, steel tracks, and rubber crawler pad optional. Enclosed cab includes heat and air conditioning as well as a new, more comfortable high-back seat for better support.
* Long arm/extra counterweight available in either the cab or canopy configurations.
