Process refractometer

Refractometry is an ideal analytical procedure for an accurate and reliable measurement of a liquid's purity, concentration or density. The primary measured quantity is the refractive index of the liquid.

The measurement is independent of the liquid's turbidity and color, nor is it influenced by entrained gas bubbles. No minimum flow rate is necessary.

Refractometers are widely used for monitoring or regulating concentration as well as for quality control. They are a very common in laboratories where for example they are used for quality spot checks.

PIOXR R operates on the basis of the transit-light principle: it measures the refractive index of light transmitted through the liquid, thus not simply by measurement of a thin layer of liquid on a prism, as it is done in the critical angle method. The latter is used by most other common refractometers. The transit-light method has the advantage that the entire liquid serves as a sample. Measurement by the transit-light principle is drift free and can reach a precision which is by a factor 10 higher than that of conventional refractometers.
