TechnologiesGenerally, the vehicle's battery powers an electro pump which activates pistons. There are three types of lift. Fold-up models offer simple, rapid operation and can handle heavy loads. On the road, the platform folds up vertically against the truck's cargo doors.
Foldaway lifts fold beneath the vehicle's rear overhang. In retractable versions, the platform slides beneath the rear of the truck. The latter two types allow free access to the cargo bed without deploying the lift. Platforms are usually steel or aluminum.
