How to choose this product

The YAG laser is a solid-state laser using an yttrium-aluminum-garnet crystal as an amplifier. Its optical pump can be either flash lamps or laser diodes operating in continuous or pulse mode.
Applications
YAG lasers are used to cut metals, such as titanium or stainless steel, ceramics, silicon, etc., in the aeronautical, watchmaking and electronics industries. Great cutting precision is possible. They also are used in welding and engraving, as well as in many other industrial applications.
Technologies
YAG lasers can combine several pump modules in series, each consisting of a crystal strip activated by a continuous flash lamp. In continuous operation it is possible to attain a power level of 5 kW. In pulse mode, the flash lamps illuminate the amplifier at a set frequency and duration, reaching 50 J of power and an average of 500 W.
How to choose
Choice will depend on intended use. Desired power will dictate using pulse or continuous function. Pumping mode (flash lamp or diode) should also be considered. Choice of crystal will determine wavelength and power range.
Advantages
- Powerful
- Fiber-optic transmission capability
Disadvantages
- Limited cutting thickness
