Quartz glass sight glasses are sight glasses manufactured from natural or synthetic quartz (SiO₂) for use in sight glass fittings (round / longitudinal / square). They are designed for demanding applications requiring exceptional thermal, chemical and optical performance.
Key features- High temperature resistance (service temperature up to 1000 °C)
- Excellent chemical resistance (resistant to most chemicals; attacked by hydrofluoric acid and concentrated phosphoric acid)
- High optical transmission suitable for monitoring and optical applications across UV–VIS–IR
- Suitable for liquid and gaseous media
- Custom designs and tolerances available on request
Material types- Natural quartz glass (QZN‑F): produced by melting finely ground rock crystal in a hydrogen‑oxygen flame; characterized by superior UV transmission.
- Synthetic quartz glass / fused silica (QZS‑F): produced by flame pyrolysis of high‑purity SiCl₄; offers highest material purity, minimal inclusions and stable optical properties.
Available designs- Plates: round, square or tongue‑shaped (oval)
- Pipes, cylinders and glass rings in various sizes and tolerances
Options / Special machining- Step forms
- Glasses with drilled holes
- Contour cuts
- Bevels, grooves and notches
Typical applications- Observation of high‑temperature processes (e.g. combustion chamber monitoring)
- Optical components for analytics and laser technology
- Sight glasses for liquid and gaseous media in industrial, research and R&D environments
