Dynamic fatigue durability test following standard ISO 11979-3 appendix G
Dynamic fatigue durability tester, in accordance with the ISO 11979-3 annex 4.10
All loops shall be capable of withstanding, without breaking, 250 000 cycles of near-sinusoidal deformation of ± 0,25 mm around the compressed distance.
The cycle frequency shall be adjusted according to the reactions of each implant.
No loop tested shall break before the end of the test
Procedure :
1 - Clamp the IOL's body on the mobile arm.
2 - Adjust the low point
3 - Compress the IOL to the theoric dimension by means of the micrometric screw.
4 - Adjust the frequency according to the reaction of the implant.
5 - Start the 250 000 compression cycles on the haptic
6 - Check periodically whether the IOL’s loop has not broken.
For the hydrophilic materials, fill the cuvet with saline solution.
