Faecal sludges are usually contaminated with a high content of coarse and fibrous material which should be removed by screening prior to treatment. This is reliably achieved by means of the sludge receiving station NSI-FA 500/S which is a fully encapsulated and containerised unit incorporating the spiral sieve NSI 500. The plant is fully automatically operated and protected against overfilling through an inlet ball valve. The extended pressing zone with pressing zone flushing enables a good compaction of screenings with a high faecal load.
