Description

Overview
The level detection electrode AT-SONDE is an accessory that connects to a DSN motor protection enclosure or to a level control relay (e.g. AT-DR07, AT-DR50) via a single-core cable 1 x 1.5 mm² to signal absence or presence of water. On contact with the liquid, the electrode allows current to flow to the relay. Response times are very fast.

Use and functional characteristics
Cylindrical and small in size, the AT-SONDE is designed to monitor water level in narrow spaces such as wells and boreholes. Electrodes can be used for single-point detection (one electrode) or in a three-electrode configuration for regulation (fill/drain). Installation height corresponds to the water level to be monitored.

Operating principle
A water detection electrode is a conductivity sensor. Water, slightly conductive when containing mineral salts, allows the passage of a small current when the electrode is immersed and in contact with the liquid. The electronic module (relay or controller) interprets this current as water presence and drives an output (relay contact). The AT-SONDE can be used for level detection or for level regulation.

Level regulation (automatic control between two thresholds)
  • Maintains the level between two thresholds: a low level (L1) and a high level (L2).
  • Two electrodes are placed at different heights to control the level. A third electrode (reference/earth electrode) is installed at the lowest level.
  • When the water falls below the low-level electrode (L1), the relay triggers filling (starts the pump or opens the solenoid valve).
  • When the water reaches the high-level electrode (L2), filling stops automatically (pump stops or solenoid valve closes).

Typical applications
Monitoring and regulation of water level in wells, boreholes, sumps and other narrow spaces where a compact, robust electrode is required.
