OverviewBRUSH Power Generation 2-pole DAX air-cooled generators are designed for steam and gas turbine drives, delivering continuous power from 20 to 310 MVA. Available in BDAX (brushless excitation) and YDAX (brushed/static excitation) variants, these units have more than 3,500 active installations and are specified by industrial operators, EPCs and power plant owners for turbine-driven generation and synchronous compensator applications.
StatorThe stator frame is engineered to withstand mechanical stresses under fault conditions. Windings use resin-rich mica glass tape insulation, providing Class F thermal performance for high-temperature operation.
RotorThe rotor is a one-piece forging from degassed nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy for superior tensile strength. Rotor conductors are high-conductivity copper/silver alloy strip with Class F insulation. End-windings are secured by retaining rings made from austenitic non-magnetic 18-18 manganese-chromium steel.
ExcitationBrushless excitation employs a three-phase rotating armature AC exciter with a shaft-mounted fused rotating rectifier. Static excitation routes power from the generator through step-up/auxiliary transformers and a controlled rectifier to the main field via slip rings.
