Description

Overview
The LEYBOLD OPTICS GLC H series glass vacuum coater applies low-e, solar control, anti-reflection and other functional coatings to architectural and automotive glass by magnetron sputtering. The system is engineered for production environments with modular configurations to match throughput and process requirements.

Key benefits
  • Reduced energy consumption: energy-efficient power supplies and pumps combined with an optimized process chamber lower overall energy use while preserving deposition rates.
  • Flexible coating capabilities: supports low-emissivity, solar control, anti-reflection and other functional coatings; modular magnetron and pump layouts enable process or capacity changes.
  • Productivity gains up to 25%: gap management allows just 30 mm between consecutive substrates, improving coating efficiency and reducing target material consumption; lower cross-contamination increases run lengths between cleanings.

Highlight features
  • Consistent layer uniformity and high deposition rates via a dedicated gas distribution system within the magnetron sputter compartment, for reactive and non-reactive processes.
  • High uptime and extended campaigns thanks to optimized target collection efficiency, reduced substrate gap and advanced process control (including remotely adjustable magnet bars).
  • Reduced maintenance downtime through modular, ergonomic layout of core components for faster cleaning and service.

Other features / Options
  • Optional hydraulic lids for entrance, buffer, transfer and exit chambers to avoid heavy overhead handling and reduce shop-floor footprint.
  • PLC connectivity and network control: compatible with common PLC interfaces and integrable into MES/automation and data-management systems.
  • Multiple glass dimension options: standard US (2590 x 4200 mm) and Jumbo (3300 x 6100 mm); combined-mode option for overlength glass and support for PLF, DLF, cut sizes and mixed-mode loading.
  • Modular architecture: two base coater configurations (single entry/exit or two-stage entry/exit) to match throughput and allow upgrades.

Technical specifications
  • Coating method: magnetron sputtering (reactive and non-reactive).
  • Supported coatings: low-e, solar control, anti-reflection and other functional films.
  • Minimum substrate gap: 30 mm (gap management for efficiency and target savings).
  • Glass size options (standard): US = 2590 x 4200 mm; Jumbo = 3300 x 6100 mm; combined-mode available for overlength glass.
  • Supported glass thickness: 2–19 mm.
  • Throughput configurations (indicative): single entry/exit ~2.0–9.0 million m²/year; two-stage entry/exit ~5.0–22.0 million m²/year.
  • Advanced process control: gas distribution to prevent target poisoning (O2, N2), remotely adjustable magnet bars, optimized target utilization.
  • Options: hydraulic lids, configurable magnetron/pump layouts, PLC/MES connectivity.
