OverviewIndustrial diaphragms for gas holders, steam accumulators and sewer gas tanks, manufactured to customer specifications. Available in large dimensions and produced by hot vulcanization to meet application-specific requirements.
Gas Holder Diaphragms — Application & PropertiesDesigned for Wiggins-type gas holders in steelworks and similar industrial plants to provide a gas-tight seal between the holder wall and piston throughout movement.
- Thickness: 2.2 mm — extremely low gas permeability
- Operating temperature: -40°C to +80°C
- Reinforcement: multi-axial polyamide layer for flexibility and high tensile strength
- Durability: >200,000 strokes; service life >10 years (application dependent)
Specifications (general)- Manufacturing method: hot vulcanization
- Height range: 2.50–22 m
- Diameter range: 6–60 m
- Gas volume range: 500–100,000 m3
- Extremely high seam strength
- Coating selection based on media and application
Material (gas holder)Multi-axial fabric coated on both sides with nitrile rubber.
- Weft angles of diagonal threads can be specified
- Absorbs forces from multiple directions
- Full tensile load carried in each yarn
- Warp, weft and angle adjustable to application
Steam Accumulator Diaphragms — Application & PropertiesUsed in steam collection and recirculation systems (e.g., mineral oil industry) to reduce emissions and improve energy recovery.
- Low permeation and resistance to commercial fuels
- High tensile strength; temperature resistance up to +70°C
- Extremely high seam strength (tested by certified agencies) under fuel exposure
Material (steam accumulator)Ultra-strong, low-stretch polyamide fabric coated both sides with nitrile-base rubber; fabric construction resistant to hydrolysis.
Sewer Gas Diaphragms — Application & PropertiesFor temporary storage of fermentation gas/biogas to be used for heat recovery or steam generation.
- High tensile strength, high flexibility and strong media resistance
- Operating temperature: -25°C to +70°C
- Highly impermeable to gases
- No weak seam points when exposed to condensate (vs cold-bonded diaphragms)
- Service life: typically >100,000 strokes
Material (sewer gas)Reinforcement from high-strength, low-stretch polyamide or polyester fabric; fabric coated both sides with chloroprene-base rubber.
Diaphragms for Various Types of Gas and SteamCustom solutions are developed from a broad selection of elastomer compounds and fabrics to meet chemical resistance, temperature and pressure requirements for specific media and future applications.
