DescriptionThe SMV type is a single-stage, self-priming side-channel pump in vertical arrangement with opposing suction and discharge nozzles. In addition to self-priming capability, side-channel pumps—due to their high head characteristics—are more economical for conveying small flow rates against relatively high heads than standard centrifugal pumps. Sealing to atmosphere is achieved with chambered O-rings. The pump shaft is supported by sleeve bearings. The pump is equipped with a permanent magnet coupling; the containment shell hermetically seals the pumped fluid. Heat generated by eddy-current losses is removed via an internal circulation flow. The auxiliary motor is directly mounted, eliminating the need for additional rolling bearings and a mechanical coupling.
