General descriptionDENSPLUS dense-phase pneumatic conveying tanks are pressurized vessels designed to transfer bulk solid materials through pipelines at high solids loading. In dense-phase conveying the material advances as concentrated plugs along the line; conveying air is minimized and the product is moved without complete dispersion in the air.
Operating principleThe DENSPLUS system operates at low conveying velocities to reduce wear in pipelines and equipment, preserve the integrity of fragile or friable products, and lower the volume of air used per unit of material. Material moves not as a dispersed dilute flow but in successive dense blocks (slug/plug flow).
Support air technology (AIRPLUS)For long-distance runs or materials with difficult flow characteristics, the AIRPLUS support air technology injects controlled air at specific pipeline locations to stabilize flow. This technology provides:
- Assistance in maintaining stable slug flow
- Reduction of pipeline blockages
- Improved performance over long transfer distances
- Operation at lower system pressures
Slug/plug flowIn dense-phase conveying the material forms successive dense blocks separated by air pockets. This flow behaviour results in:
- Typically low conveying velocities (reference range ~5–10 m/s)
- Significantly reduced pipeline wear
- Lower energy consumption per transported mass
- Preservation of material quality for fragile or abrasive powders
Advantages- Suitable for fragile, abrasive and heat-sensitive materials
- Energy-efficient long-distance transfer
- Low pipeline wear and reduced maintenance
- High-capacity, stable conveying performance
Typical industrial applicationsDense-phase pneumatic conveying is commonly used for fly ash, hydrated lime and sorbents, PVC and mineral filler powders, activated carbon and process chemicals, biomass and fuel powders. For each application pipeline diameter, tank volume, air consumption and cycle times are optimized according to material flow properties.
