Description

Product overview
The handheld StratoTest 4500 C measures refractory lining thickness in rotary kilns used in cement and brick production. Instead of the traditional method requiring many inspection drillings, the instrument uses one calibration borehole and then performs non-invasive electromagnetic (eddy-current) measurements. The method is non-destructive and safe for the operator, enabling fast, reliable determination of lining condition and thickness for cement, dolomite, magnesite and fireclay bricks up to 300 mm.

Application
  • Non-destructive thickness measurement of electrically non-conducting refractory linings in industrial rotary kilns
  • Typical materials: cement, dolomite, magnesite, fireclay bricks in rotary kilns

Features
  • Non-destructive eddy-current measurement
  • Measuring range up to 300 mm (hand probe)
  • Immediate digital display of brick thickness
  • Special measurement processing to reduce influence of metal inclusions or microstructural variations
  • Easy data transfer via USB and Bluetooth

Supply contents
  • StratoTest 4500 C control and evaluation unit
  • Measuring probe N 300ST
  • Probe handle and connecting cable
  • Carrying case for on-site use
  • Plastic transport case

Technical specifications
  • Measuring principle: eddy-current testing
  • Measurable materials: electrically non-conducting refractory bricks (not suitable for sheet-metal constructions or reinforced refractory concrete)
  • Measuring range: 0 ... 30 cm (N300ST standard probe)
  • Resolution: 0.1 cm
  • Display: digital LCD
  • Data memory: DIRECT mode limited by SD card size (approx. 2,000,000 readings); ZONE-SECTION mode: >1,000,000 individual readings and 9,801 separate measurement series. StratoTest C groups readings into series with one DIRECT memory and 99 zone memories combined with 99 series/section memories.
  • Power supply: 3 x AA (LR05) batteries
  • Battery life: approx. 150 hours (operation without display illumination)
  • Ambient temperature: instrument 0 °C – 60 °C; probe 0 °C – 70 °C
