OverviewThe Model 450 scratch test station according to BMW/ERICHSEN is a PLC-controlled test system designed to perform reproducible scratch tests on paint and plastic surfaces. The system consists of a base unit with a servomotor-driven XY sample table and a manual Z drive with universal tool holder and pneumatic tool feed, plus a separate control unit with an integrated touchscreen for inputting test parameters. Test load is adjusted using slip-on weights.
Scratch test modes- Line scratching = single linear movement
- Parameters: length / speed
- Rubbing = repeated linear movements at the same position
- Parameters: length / speed / number
- Matrix = latticed linear movement
- Parameters: x length / y length / mesh size / speed
- Circuit = single circular motion
- Parameters: circle diameter / path speed
- Lissajous figure = superposition of two vertical sinusoidal movements with slight frequency difference
- Parameters: frequency / amplitude / number
