Description

Overview
FLS Double Roll Crushers (DRC) and Eccentric Roll Crushers (ERC®) are primary crushers engineered for demanding mineral and bulk-material operations. DRCs suit soft to medium-hard feedstocks, while ERC® models are designed for high-throughput, high-intensity comminution of hard and abrasive ores.

Key benefits
  • Low energy, high throughput — DRC models deliver very high throughput (up to ~14,000 tph on largest models). ERC® offers throughput gains versus conventional benchmarks and notable energy savings.
  • Flexible and adaptable — Advanced tooth/liner geometry, optimised gap settings and balanced roll arrangement reduce vibration and enable use in mobile and semi-mobile installations.
  • Durable, low-maintenance operation — Patented hydraulic gap setting and retraction systems enable safe product-size adjustment, compensation for liner wear and automatic release of uncrushable material; DRC hydraulics retract rolls to pass tramp metal or overloads.

Double Roll Crusher (DRC)
Designed for primary crushing of soft to medium-hard rock. Key points: direct and V-belt drive options; capable of processing materials with compressive strengths around 150 MPa and above (model-dependent); less sensitive to wet or sticky feeds than some primary crushers; accepts larger feed sizes and is optimal for primary reduction of soft to medium-hard rocks.

Eccentric Roll Crusher (ERC®)
Compact, robust crusher for primary crushing of hard rock and ore in surface and underground applications. Key points: integrated screening to bypass fines and reduce chamber load; eccentric/oscillating roll kinematics maintain constant stroke across the cavity; high roll and flywheel inertia stores energy to compensate load peaks; effective for hard, abrasive ores and intensive comminution duties.

Sustainability & performance
  • Energy efficiency — ERC® is presented as a highly energy-efficient option with significant reductions in consumption versus conventional hard-rock primary crushers.
  • Circularity and material efficiency — Designs use less material and lower mass compared with some conventional solutions.
  • Safety — Hydraulic retraction systems reduce the need for manual intervention in the crushing chamber, improving operator safety.

Maintenance and services
Simple machine architecture facilitates maintenance and repair. Hydraulic gap adjustment provides rapid release for overloads and tramp metal. Supporting maintenance materials (videos and procedures) illustrate access and replacement of jaw liners, roll liners and grizzly components.

Applications
  • Primary crushing of bauxite, ores, coal, overburden and similar feed materials.
  • Use DRC models for soft to medium-hard rock; select ERC® models for hard, abrasive ores and high-throughput scenarios.

Technical characteristics / specifications
  • Product types: Double Roll Crusher (DRC) and Eccentric Roll Crusher (ERC®).
  • DRC throughput: model-dependent examples up to ≈14,000 tph on largest units.
  • ERC® performance: reported throughput improvements versus industrial benchmarks and significant energy savings (manufacturer data).
  • Product size: typical ranges 0–300 mm or 0–400 mm depending on model and configuration.
  • Feed capability: crushes materials with compressive strengths to ≈150 MPa and higher (DRC, model-dependent).
  • Drive options: direct drive and V-belt drive available (DRC).
  • Hydraulic features: fully hydraulic gap setting/retraction (ERC®); hydraulic roll retraction for tramp metal/overload protection (DRC).
  • Design features: integrated screen on ERC® to bypass fines; balanced symmetrical roll arrangement to reduce vibration; high moment of inertia (rolls & flywheels) on ERC® to accumulate crushing energy.
  • Example models: DRC 18-18, DRC 20-25, DRC 22-25, DRC 22-28; ERC® 18-14, ERC® 22-20, ERC® 25-25, ERC® 25-30.
  • Typical capacities (illustrative/model-dependent): examples such as 2,500–4,000 tph and 4,000–6,000 tph for certain configurations; up to ~14,000 tph on largest DRC.
  • Environmental claims: ERC® and DRC designs claim lower energy use, reduced CO2e and reduced material use versus some conventional hard-rock primary crushers.
