The GESERCO TAN BN Test Kit is a true portable lubricant analysis mini laboratory.


The TAN BN Test Kit is a stand-alone solution designed for monitoring on the operation site two main characteristics of the lubricant:

• Acid index (TAN)
• Alkaline reserve (BN)

The tests are simple and rapid, and the kit includes comprehensive information allowing the engineer to make immediate decisions for maintaining and safeguarding the Motor.


Acid Index (TAN)
The GESERCO TAN Test Kit allows avoiding the effects of lubricant ageing and oxidation:

• Corroding of metallic components
• Gumming and clamping of lubricated parts
• Production of glaze and sludge in the circuitry

The GESERCO TAN test allows for precisely, simply and quickly monitoring and calculating the TAN value in mg kOH/g at the operation site of the lubricated equipment.


Alkaline Reserve (BN)
The alkaline reserve (Base Number – BN) formulated into engine oils neutralizes the acids produced by the combustion of fuels containing sulfur that could damage the engine.


In service, the BN of the engine oil falls from its original value until it reaches a minimum acceptable level (typically 50% of original value).
