This red-and-black colored silicone-clad thin-diameter sensor cable is intended for measurements at cryogenic temperatures, down to 20 K, using a cryostat and our Kapton- or Teflon-insulated Hot Disk® or Hot Strip™ sensors. The sensor cable consists of four individual wire threads with one of their ends connected to the sensor and their other ends connected to our grey-colored polymer-clad sensor cable. The sensor connection is achieved by soldering, which in turn is protected by an aluminum housing (or silicone pads). The four sensor wire threads have silicone cladding that is specified to accommodate temperatures down to -60°C. Handled with care (i.e. allowing them to climatize above -60°C after usage and before further handling) the four wire threads can function down to cryogenic temperatures and be used multiple times. The four sensor wire threads of this cable individually display a thin metal diameter and are made extra-long as compared to our other sensor cables. As much as possible of the redundant length is placed inside the vacuum chamber of the cryostat. The purpose is to help minimize heat leaking into the vacuum chamber through the sensor leads. Moreover, as a vacuum chamber requires hermetic cable feedthroughs, the four sensor wire threads need to be cut and reconnected over the vacuum-sealed feedthrough. When ordering our Hot Disk® and Hot Strip™ sensors with this cable they come connected by default, with the aluminum housing (or silicone pads on request). However, spare sensor cables as well as spare aluminum housings can also be ordered.
