Description

This sample holder is primarily intended for testing samples to be frozen, such as foods. It can, however, equally well be used for the testing of high viscosity liquids, pastes, gels, foams, and creams. For frozen samples, we recommend the use of our Kapton-insulated Hot Disk® sensor model 8563; this has a double-spiral diameter of 19.8 mm. For high-viscosity liquids, pastes, gels, foams, and creams, we advise Kapton-insulated or Teflon-insulated (for reactive samples) Hot Disk® sensors with somewhat smaller double-spiral diameters. This sample holder consists of a cylindrically shaped container, a sensor fixture, and a removable handlebar for carrying. It is tailored for use in our bath circulator TCU, but it can conveniently be used also in other TCUs, such as our convection ovens. The sample container has an inner diameter of 50 mm and an inner height of 70 mm. The Hot Disk® sensor is immersed vertically into this container. Note also that there is a slot in the sample holder, close to the container, for fitting our 4-mm-diameter PT100 temperature sensor. This sample holder is made of aluminum, except for the stainless steel handlebar and fittings, and it can be used down to -60°C, and up to 180°C.
