Vacuum dryer with TOP OPENINGThe ESC series vacuum dryers are designed for workshops and small industrial sites where floor space is limited. The top-opening autoclave lets you use the full internal length without extracting the carriage, reducing overall footprint while allowing standard load lengths.
General principle of operationThe unit operates at low temperature under vacuum to extract water from timber without thermal shock that causes cracking or warping. Evaporated water suspended in the chamber keeps drying surfaces humidified, preventing small surface cracks. Humidity between the environment and the material is controlled by a condenser that precipitates steam. Chamber conditioning is maintained by probes connected to heating and condensing circuits and to the timber; this programmed conditioning starts the transmigration of water from cell walls to the surface, where it is continuously evaporated until the required moisture content is reached. Condensate collected at the bottom of the autoclave is periodically discharged to keep stable drying conditions.
Advantages- Fast drying: vacuum process at low temperature produces high hourly moisture reductions without thermal stress.
- Consistent quality: minimal cracking, no warping, stable colour and unchanged mechanical properties.
- Capability: suitable for thick sections and high-initial-moisture timber, including boards and semi-finished parts.
- Low operating costs: reduced thermal losses and efficient use of electrical and thermal energy; minimal manual intervention.
- Low maintenance: simple, robust construction with corrosion-resistant materials and basic automatic devices.
Main features- Autoclave in epoxy-coated steel (standard); option in AISI 304 stainless steel for corrosive woods (e.g., oak, chestnut).
- Insulating cladding to minimise thermal losses.
- Shell opening with pneumatic pistons for top/vertical access.
- Electric control panel with microprocessor for programmable automatic cycles.
- Humidity probes on a sample unit for process control.
- Automatic condensate discharge system.
- Aluminium electric heating plates.
- Oil-lubricated vacuum pump for continuous service.
Accessories on request- Air-bag pressing system.
- Disinfecting system for xylophagous insects using insecticide tablets.
Operational requirementsOperation requires a single electrical socket and a condensate drainage well.
