Therefore, although the injection temperature of PBT plastic molding injection is higher than that of plastics such as polystyrene, it cannot be as loose as the latter. Greater temperature change can cause defects such as weld seams, poor gloss, flash, sticking, and discoloration.Injection Pressure: PBT plastic molding injection melts have a higher viscosity than polystyrene or modified polystyrene, so higher injection pressures are used during injection. Not all PBT plastic molding injection parts are subjected to high pressure; low injection pressures can be applied to small, simple, and thick parts. During the injection process, the pressure in the cavity at the instant of gate closure often determines the surface quality of the part and the degree of silver-like defects. If the pressure is too small, the plastic shrinks greatly, the chance of disengagement from the surface of the cavity is large, and the surface of the workpiece is atomized. Excessive pressure causes strong friction between the plastic and the cavity surface, making sticking more likely.Injection Speed: PBT material has a good effect on medium injection speed. When injection speed is too fast, the plastic is easily burnt or gas is separated out, causing weld defects, poor gloss, and redness of the plastic near the gate. However, in the production of thin-walled and complex parts, it is necessary to ensure a high enough injection speed, otherwise it will be difficult to fill.Mold Temperature: PBT plastic molding injection has a relatively high molding temperature and a relatively high mold temperature. Generally, mold temperature is adjusted to 75-85°C. For parts with large projection area, mold temperature is 70-80°C, and for other parts, 50-60°C. Special injections should be considered for larger, contoured, thin-walled parts. To shorten the production cycle and maintain relative stability of mold temperature, a cold water bath, hot water bath, or other mechanical setting method can be used to compensate for the time of cold setting in the cavity after parts are taken out.Feed Volume Control: When the injection molding machine is filled with PBT, its injection volume is only 75% of the standard injection volume. To improve quality and dimensional stability of parts, surface gloss, and uniform color, the injection volume is required to be 50% of the nominal injection volume. PBT must be dried at 110~120°C for about 3 hours before injection molding. The molding temperature is 250~270°C, and the mold temperature is controlled at 50~75°C. As the material cools from molten state, it will solidify and crystallize immediately, so the cooling time is short; if nozzle temperature is improperly controlled (lower), the flow channel (water nozzle) is easy to cool and solidify, and gag phenomenon will occur. If cylinder temperature exceeds 275°C or residence time of melt in cylinder exceeds 30 minutes, it will easily cause the material to decompose and become brittle. When PBT injection molding, it is necessary to use a large nozzle to feed rubber. It is not advisable to use a hot runner system. Mold exhaust should be good. It should be processed by "high speed, medium pressure and medium temperature". Fireproof material or glass fiber PBT nozzle should not be used again.
