The KMF 3 is an economical and universalinstrument for checking a large variety ofextensometers and for setting the gain of theirmeasurement amplifiers. A linearity test ofextensometers is possible only within the systemaccuracy of the KMF 3. For linearity checks ofextensometers with the accuracy class between 0.2and 1 the calibrator KMF 100 s necessary(according to European Norm EN ISO 9513). In thehorizontal position of the KMF 3 eveninductive transducers (e.g. LVDTs) can be clampedon through the base plate for testing. Its low weightand handy construction make it highly suitable forfield work.
On a stable frame a digital micrometer is fixedhaving a non-rotating spindle with a stroke of 50mm. The micrometer can be set to zero at anydesired position. The spindle is extended with ameasuring pin (Ø 12 mm). Inside the frame theextensometer or inductive transducer can be affixedfor testing. Holders with tungsten carbide platefor gauge heads and threaded holders (M4 x 0.5)can be attached instead of the upper measuring pin.The base supports of the instrument can bechanged so that a 3 - or 4 - point support may beselected. All parts are made of corrosion resistantmaterials (hardchrome plated columns, coatedaluminium and stainless steel). A data interface forthe printer DP - 1DX is available with the digitalmicrometer Mitutoyo 164 - 161.
