It is slightly soluble in water, with a solubility of 12.5mg/L in water at 20°C, and soluble in organic solvents 2-ethylhexyl nitrate is widely used. As a diesel additive, it can increase the cetane number of diesel, improve combustion performance, enhance engine power, reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. It can serve as an organic synthesis intermediate for the preparation of fine chemical products such as pharmaceuticals and pesticides. It can also be used as an organic solvent to adjust the performance of products such as coatings and inks. In addition, it is also applied in aviation fuel and some explosive formulations to improve fuel performance or regulate explosive performance. For liquids, we usually use galvanized iron drums or plastic drums.
