Product overviewThe Mastersizer 3000+ Pro is a mid‑tier laser diffraction particle size analyzer providing rapid, reproducible particle size and distribution data for suspensions, emulsions and dry powders. It offers a single optical measurement path with a measurement range suitable for most micron‑scale industrial applications and integrates software and connectivity features for method development and instrument monitoring.
Key features- Laser diffraction particle sizing system for 0.1–2500 µm
- Single optical bench covering the full measurement range
- Interchangeable wet and dry dispersion accessories (manual and automated)
- Optional automated dispersion for high throughput and repeatability
- Mastersizer Xplorer software with method guidance and reporting
- Smart Manager for live health monitoring and OmniTrust for audit/access control
- Upgradeable to Mastersizer 3000+ Ultra
How it worksThe instrument measures the intensity of light scattered by particles when illuminated by a laser beam. Scattering patterns are analyzed using Mie and Fraunhofer models to compute particle size distributions. The approach delivers fast measurements with high data acquisition rates suitable for process and R&D environments.
Optical benchA single optical path and a red light source measure scattering over a wide angular range. A log‑spaced detector array captures scattered intensities across angles to resolve particle sizes from submicron to millimetre scale in one measurement configuration.
Sample dispersion unitsThe Mastersizer 3000+ Pro supports multiple wet Hydro cells and Aero dry dispersion options to handle different sample types and volumes. Dispersion units control concentration and dispersion state to ensure reproducible measurements for powders, suspensions and emulsions.
Mastersizer softwareMastersizer Xplorer controls instrument setup, measurement and analysis. The software provides guided method selection, built‑in data quality guidance, SOP Architect for method documentation and flexible reporting tools to support regulated laboratory workflows.
Key applications- Powder flowability and feedstock characterisation for additive manufacturing and processing
- Packing density and solids loading control for suspensions and slurries
- Stability assessment of suspensions and emulsions (flocculation, separation)
- Correlation of particle size with viscosity and flow in coatings, cosmetics and battery slurries
- Dissolution and release rate evaluation in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals
