OverviewFast prototyping and tooling workflow based on slicing a digital 3D model, manufacturing plate sections and assembling them to produce prototypes or tooling components.
ProcessThe STRATOCONCEPTION® process, developed by Cirtes (F), slices the digital model and cuts the resulting planar sections from plate material which are then stacked and joined to recreate the 3D geometry. Cutting can be performed with laser or water-jet machines. MECANUMERIC integrates the STRATOCONCEPTION® system into its machines.
Workflow- Slicing the 3D CAD model into planar slices
- Cutting each slice from plate material (laser or water-jet)
- Stacking, aligning and assembling slices using appropriate joining techniques
Applications- Rapid prototyping and form studies
- Tooling and pattern fabrication
- Hybrid workflows combining CAD slicing with CNC laser and water-jet cutting
