Using this network card, it is possible to connect PCs directly to a fiber network (Fiber-To-The-Desk) with full gigabit performance. PCI Express, or PCIe for short, is the successor to PCI and is the internal PC data bus of the future. The main advantage of PCI Express is the much higher data rate between PC processor and network controller. External media converters, which are usually operated via an existing copper connection, are thus no longer needed. The network adapter also supports all current standards such as Jumbo Frames, VLAN Tags, Advanced Configuration Power Management (ACPI 2.0) and many more. Remote management can be configured via SNMPv1 (RFC 1157).
