Product overviewDouble-Core Oval Fiberglass Oven & Kiln Door Gasket is a heavy-duty high-temperature textile seal built around two parallel internal cores to create a wider oval sealing profile than a conventional single-core round gasket. The twin-core construction provides a broader compression surface, increased profile stability and suitability for large sealing channels used in industrial ovens, kilns, furnaces and other high-temperature access doors.
Construction and materialsThe gasket can be manufactured using two stainless steel knitted mesh cores, each individually covered with fiberglass overbraid, and then combined under an additional common fiberglass overbraid to form one stable oval profile. An optional external stainless steel knitted wire mesh jacket can be added for increased abrasion protection. Braid construction, yarn specification and finished density can be adjusted according to required profile and equipment conditions.

What is a double-core oval door gasket?A double-core door gasket uses two internal sealing cores positioned side by side rather than one circular core. When combined under a common outer braid, the finished gasket develops an oval or flattened-oval cross-section that provides two internal compression zones and a wider sealing footprint compared with a single-core round gasket. This is important where sealing channels are wider than they are deep or where a broad gasket footprint is required.
Typical multi-layer construction- First stainless steel knitted mesh core
- Second stainless steel knitted mesh core
- Individual fiberglass overbraid around each core
- Both cores positioned in parallel
- Common fiberglass overbraid around the complete twin-core assembly
- Optional stainless steel knitted wire mesh outer jacket
Twin stainless steel mesh cores — benefitsThe internal cores determine much of the gasket's compression behavior and dimensional stability. Two knitted stainless steel mesh cores positioned side by side create a resilient internal structure while maintaining the wider oval geometry. Compared with a single-core gasket, the double-core construction can provide a wider sealing footprint, two internal compression zones, improved support across a broad sealing channel, greater resistance to profile collapse and stable positioning in large gasket channels.
Fiberglass overbraid constructionFiberglass yarn can be braided around each internal core and around the combined double-core assembly. Textile layers help hold the cores in position, create a continuous outer sealing surface, maintain flexibility along the gasket length, allow the profile to follow doors and access openings, and separate the internal metallic structure from the mating surface. Braid construction and finished density are adjustable for the required profile and conditions.
Optional stainless steel wire mesh outer jacketWhere the gasket experiences substantial rubbing, repeated sliding contact or abrasive interaction with metal channels and door surfaces, an additional stainless steel knitted wire mesh jacket can be installed over the fiberglass construction to provide abrasion resistance. The outer metallic jacket is selected for mechanical protection rather than solely for temperature rating.
Comparison: double-core gasket vs single-core clip-on and wire-jacketed gasketsConstruction - Primary Design Purpose
Single-core clip-on gasket - Round compressible seal with integrated attachment clips
Wire-jacketed gasket - Enhanced protection against external abrasion
Double-core oval gasket - Wide sealing footprint and twin internal support zones
ApplicationsTypical applications include industrial kiln doors, industrial oven doors, heat-treatment furnace doors, large batch oven doors, drying oven access doors, high-temperature curing ovens, thermal processing equipment, large furnace access openings, brick and ceramic kilns, industrial dryer doors, high-temperature access panels and OEM heating equipment.
Designed for high-cycle industrial doorsThe double-core construction can be engineered to provide a stable broad profile for doors that are opened and closed repeatedly. The two internal cores share compression load across the width of the gasket. Actual gasket life depends on selected materials, compression level, installation geometry, door alignment and operating environment.
How to specify the correct oval gasket sizeDo not select an oval door gasket only by measuring a worn gasket. For replacements measure both the existing gasket and the equipment. Useful measurements: channel width, channel depth, door-to-frame gap when closed, available compression space, overall gasket path, corner geometry, existing gasket width and height. A photograph of the gasket cross-section is useful when internal construction is unknown.
Custom and OEM manufacturingCustom profiles can be developed from engineering drawings, cross-sectional sketches, existing gasket samples, door and channel dimensions, operating conditions and OEM dimensional requirements. Prototype development is recommended when profile, core construction or required compression differs significantly from existing designs.
