Description

Overview
Meldin® Thermoplastics is a family of engineered thermoplastic compounds (including PPS, PAI and PEEK/PAEK chemistries) formulated to retain mechanical strength, dimensional stability and wear resistance at elevated temperatures where standard engineering plastics de-rate. Options include injection-moldable grades and limited finished/prototype shapes.

Application examples
  • Aerospace & aviation components
  • Space systems
  • Life-science and medical-device components (non-implantable applications)
  • Semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Industrial environments requiring high-temperature, high-load or low-friction materials

Material lines (selected)
  • Meldin® Thermoplastics 1000 — PPS based: proprietary PPS compounds offering chemical and thermal resistance, dimensional stability and suitability for close-clearance parts.
  • Meldin® Thermoplastics 4000 — PAI based: polyamide-imide grades delivering stiffness, sustained mechanical strength at temperature, wear resistance and compatibility with common automotive and industrial fluids; available as injection-molding grades for tight tolerances.
  • Meldin® Thermoplastics 5000 — PEEK/PAEK based: high-performance PAEK/PEEK formulations providing elevated tensile, compressive and flexural strength as lower-weight, corrosion-resistant alternatives to metals and ceramics; designed for high-load, tight-tolerance finished components.

Features & Benefits
  • Tribological performance under aggressive PV conditions
  • Suitable for dry-running and lubricated environments
  • Lower density versus metals for weight reduction
  • High thermal resistance and low coefficient of thermal expansion for dimensional stability
  • Chemical and corrosion resistance to many industrial fluids
  • Mechanical integrity and capability for high static and dynamic loads
  • Available reinforced, unfilled (electrical insulation) and specialty blends optimized for wear/friction
  • Injection molding capability for tight-tolerance finished parts and design flexibility

Technical specifications
  • Material families: PPS (polyphenylene sulfide), PAI (polyamide-imide), PEEK/PAEK (polyetheretherketone / polyaryletherketone)
  • Processing: injection molding for finished parts; limited prototype shapes available
  • Key attributes: elevated-temperature strength, dimensional stability, wear resistance, chemical compatibility
  • Typical components: bearings, thrust washers, piston rings, electrical insulators, structural and wear parts
  • Available grades: reinforced grades for strength, unfilled grades for electrical insulation, specialty blends for optimized tribological performance
  • PFAS note: formulations may be produced without intentional PFAS additions; environmental traces cannot be fully excluded
