The Optris Xi80 LT ETH smart thermal camera from the Xi series combines pyrometer functions with the wider abilities of a thermal imager. This thermal camera works in the long-wave infrared range and allows non-contact temperature measurement from –20 °C to 900 °C. With its 80 × 80 pixel detector and a distance-to-spot ratio of up to 190:1, the smart thermal camera provides clear results even from a distance. Unlike single-spot pyrometers, which only give limited data, the Xi80 hot spot finder captures complete thermal images and spatial distributions.
The Xi80 LT ETH uses uncooled bolometer technology. This design is cost-effective and sturdy without moving optical parts. Its compact casing is ideal for permanent setups. Optional water cooling, air purges, and protective housings further enable use in tough conditions. Also, various connections and mounting choices make integration easier.
You can connect via USB or Ethernet. However, the camera can also function independently. Features like automatic hot-spot detection, direct analog output (0/4–20 mA), and support for fieldbus protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, RS-485, Profinet) allow seamless use in control loops. A motorized focus also enables remote adjustment of measurement targets.
The Xi80 LT ETH operates at 50 Hz, making it ideal for tracking fast processes. The advanced features of the thermal camera, including line scanning and image merging, are available in the PIX Connect software. This smart thermal camera platform also supports radiometric recording, analysis, and data export. Furthermore, developer kits are available for machine integration that needs custom software.
