Description

“TAWERS TIG” is one family member of many TAWERS solution. With using same robot and welder power unit it is possible to TIG weld by just changing over gears to TIG welding components. As much as TAWERS MIG/MAG welding is advanced, TAWERS TIG also has many unique features to improve TIG welding. One of the difficulty of designing jig for TIG welding is to consider welding torch access. Usually TIG torch with filler wire re-quires huge open area around weld position. This is because not like MIG/MAG welding, filler wire and electrode is separated for TIG welding. This separation is contributing to one of the biggest benefit of TIG welding which is no spatter. But on the other hand this separation will make the front end design of TIG torch larger. Therefore there will be big limitation when designing jigs for robotic TIG welding. Welding torch used for TAWERS TIG is very compact and still equipped with filler wire. Compact design will enable TIG torch with filler wire going into tighter space as well as gaining more freedom to design the jig. In regards to robotic arc welding, MIG/MAG process is more pop-ular compared with TIG welding. One of the big reason is the productivity. In general, TIG welding is a slow process. Although compact torch design which has been mentioned before, accessi-bility is not the primary reason why TAWERS TIG torch is born with this design. There is a technology behind this design to increase weld speed.
