OverviewThe Paramount-designed Airscreen separator separates the conveying airstream from conveyed waste near the end of a waste extraction system. It combines a purpose-built separation screen with a single adjustable aerofoil set during commissioning to control incoming air velocity and maintain a clear screen for consistent separation.
How it worksSeparated waste falls by gravity into a bin, compactor or baler positioned beneath the separator. Separated air is either vented to atmosphere or routed to filtration to remove residual dust. For demanding processes, an optional balance fan on the air exit or an additional filter can be fitted to support system performance and process control.
Key advantages- Compact footprint: delivers processing capacity comparable to a cyclone with a significantly smaller installed height (typical Airscreen ≈1.5 m vs cyclone ≈15 m), suitable for plant rooms and basements.
- Simple mechanics: only one moving part (adjustable aerofoil) for straightforward commissioning and low-maintenance operation.
- Flexible integration: can discharge to bin, compactor or baler; separated air may be vented or filtered; balance fan option for challenging applications.
- Patented Paramount design tailored to effective separation across a wide range of materials.
Materials handled- Paper
- Tissue
- Corrugated board
- Sticky-backed labels
- Aluminium foil
- Plastic
- Can scrap
- Flock
Applications & installationThe Airscreen is typically installed toward the end of a waste extraction line. Its low height and compact footprint make it well suited to locations with restricted headroom such as plant rooms and basements. It is used across industrial processes where separating a conveying airstream from particulate or bulk waste is required.
Technical specifications- Design: Paramount patented Airscreen / Separator
- Main moving part: 1 adjustable aerofoil (controls incoming air velocity)
- Function: separation of conveying airflow from conveyed waste using a tailored screen and aerofoil control
- Indicative installed height: approx. 1.5 m (versus ~15 m for a comparable cyclone)
- Discharge options: bin, compactor, baler
- Air handling: vent to atmosphere or direct to filtration; optional balance fan on air exit for demanding applications
- Suitable materials: paper, tissue, corrugated board, sticky-backed labels, aluminium foil, plastic, can scrap, flock
- Benefits: compact footprint, simplified mechanics (single moving part), adaptable to filtration and balance-fan integration
