OverviewThe M07 alternating-pressure test bench from Poppe + Potthoff is a modular test system for validating liquid-cooling components under realistic thermal and pressure conditions. It is designed for applications in e‑mobility, automotive and electronics where coolant circuits must withstand dynamic pressure cycles and temperature variations.
Test mediumTypical test medium: glycol/water mixture (example: 50% ethylene glycol / 50% water). Tests can also be performed with water, hydraulic oils or other customer-specified coolants. Flow rates and media are configurable to match the component under test.
Test procedure (example standard: M‑07)- Referenced standards: M‑07 (example), GS 95024‑3‑1 M‑07, MBN 10306 M‑07, VW80000 M‑07, GMW14193 and similar OEM specifications.
- Objective: expose components to alternating pressure with coolant while applying dynamic ambient and media temperature profiles to simulate operational conditions; verify mechanical integrity and leak-tightness under pressure fluctuations.
- Negative-pressure conditions: filling and evacuation steps replicate sub-atmospheric conditions; negative-pressure tests may use air/gas or liquid media depending on the procedure.
Test procedure — M‑07 parts- Part 1 — Pressure pulsation (alternating pressure): pmin = 0.5 (−0.1) bar abs, pmax = 2.0 (+0.1) bar abs; frequency ≈ 25–35 cycles/min; typical cycles = 100,000 (configurable).
- Part 2 — Overpressure: test pressure ≈ 4.0 (+0.1) bar abs; duration = 1 hour under varying temperature conditions.
- Part 3 — Negative-pressure: test pressure ≈ −0.01 bar abs; duration = 30 minutes. Usually performed with gas/air; alternatively a glycol solution at 0.5–1 bar (below atmospheric) can be used to simulate sub-atmospheric conditions.
