Product overviewThe HCT 1000 thermal conductivity transmitter (HydroTrans) is a flameproof enclosure transmitter designed for continuous gas concentration measurement in industrial process control. Packaged in a weatherproof housing with IP65 protection, it is intended for harsh and hazardous outdoor environments. The transmitter uses a solid-state thermal conductivity (TCD) sensor and can be configured for H2, He, N2, Ar, CO2 or other gases in binary or multi-component mixtures.
Sensor operating principleThe device measures target gas concentration by comparing heat transfer between a heated sensing resistor and an ambient reference resistor. The measurement relies on the thermal conductivity coefficient of the gas, producing a stable physical signal proportional to concentration.
Sensor descriptionThe sensor integrates a heater on a thin electrical and thermal insulating membrane. Two thin-film resistors perform heating and temperature measurement on the membrane. Two adjacent compensation resistors on the silicon substrate correct for ambient temperature variations. Lighter-than-air gases (e.g., CH4) reduce the membrane temperature; heavier gases (e.g., CO2) increase the measuring resistor temperature.
