The permanent block magnetic separator (R-BMP) and the electromagnetic block separator (R-BME) attract ferrous metals but, unlike an Overband, there is no automatic extraction system. Cleaning is done manually. The permanent block magnetic separator (R-BMP) is a type of magnet that maintains its magnetism constantly without requiring an external power source. These blocks utilize permanent magnetic materials, such as rare earth alloys, enabling the magnet to maintain a powerful and long-lasting magnetic field. The electromagnetic block separator consists of a ferromagnetic material core, such as iron, accompanied by a wire coil that allows the passage of electric current. Electromagnetic block separators differ from permanent magnetic separators in that they only produce a magnetic field when there is an electric current flowing through the coil. One of its characteristics is that its magnetic force is temporary and can be regulated by activating or deactivating the electric current. This feature provides greater versatility in some applications compared to permanent block separators. It is possible to modify the level of magnetism of the electromagnetic block separator by altering the intensity of the current flowing through the coil, allowing the possibility to precisely regulate the power of the produced magnetic field. Also, the direction of the magnetic field can be changed by reversing the current.
