Description

What does a ROSS Inline High Shear Mixer do? The ROSS Inline High Shear Mixer is ideal for reducing the size of particles and droplets in fine dispersions and emulsions to create scalable, highly repeatable products. How does a ROSS Inline High Shear Mixer work? The ROSS Inline High Shear Mixer design consists of a single, dual or four stage rotor that turns at high speed within a stationary stator. As the rotating blades pass the stator, they mechanically shear the contents. Design - An inline rotor/stator mixer behaves like a centrifugal pumping device. Because an inline mixer is typically positioned on the floor or on a platform below the liquid level, gravity usually feeds the product into the mix chamber. Here the product is subjected to high shear as the rotor turns at tip speeds ranging from 3,000 to 4,000 ft/min and expels the mixture out of the chamber through the holes of the stationary stator. Depending on the rotor/stator geometry, an inline mixer can handle viscosities up to 10,000-20,000 cP without external pumping assistance. With an auxiliary pump, it can process much more viscous materials. ROSS Inline High Shear Mixers are available in both Laboratory and Production models. Standard Production features include: Driven by an explosion proof (Class 1, Group D), 230/460 V, 3 Ph, 60 Hz, inverter duty motor. Standard single stage rotor/stator supplied with either a disintegrating, slotted, or fine screen stator head. Single mechanical seal for operating pressure up to 75 psig with Viton elastomers. Stainless steel type 316 wetted parts. Non-stainless steel external parts coated with a two-part acrylic urethane enamel coating.
