OverviewThe PFMC testing machine performs automated destructive pull-force tests and slit inspection on tamper-evident bands. It reduces time required for pull-force testing and can automatically provide feedback to the slitting process to maintain consistent slit quality independent of operator variability. The unit can operate stand-alone or be integrated inline on a production line.
Purpose- Measure breaking forces of tamper-evident band bridges and lugs
- Inspect tamper-evident band and slit quality before destructive testing
Breaking force measurementPFMC performs destructive pull-force checks on cap samples taken from the slitting machine outlet conveyor. The pull test records breaking forces of the bridges and of the lugs that keep tethered caps attached to the bottle neck. The machine logs measured values, provides per-sample and per-spindle statistics, and produces force vs. time charts for trend analysis. Measurement data can be exported via Ethernet or USB for further analysis.
Slit inspection (CVS-CUT)The PFMC can be supplied with the CVS-CUT inspection system integrated into the machine. CVS-CUT inspects the tamper-evident band prior to destructive testing using a high-resolution line-scan camera with resolution < 0.01 mm, capturing cap profile and slit geometry for high-precision inspection of slit quality.
Advantages for the customer- Applicable to both traditional tamper-evident band caps and tethered caps
- Quick size changeover to test caps of different diameters
- Pull-force checks enable indirect detection of scoring blade wear, unsuitable scoring parameters or inappropriate cap material
- Provides feedback (for example blade temperature) to support process control
- Statistics correlated to values measured for each spindle of the cutting machine
- High-precision inspection of band quality (black spots, incompleteness), slit quality (straightness, thickness) and bridge quality (size, consistency, number)
Operation modesThe PFMC can operate as a stand-alone unit or be integrated inline in production. Analysis of force-vs-time charts enables assessment of bridge elongation and comparative testing of caps made from different materials.
