Description

Overview
The S1 is a punch-laser combi machine and a true work center that punches, forms, taps, cuts and separates parts. It optimizes production by reducing waste, minimizing intermediate handling and operator intervention, and enabling automatic production of finished parts.

Process efficiency
  • All punching, forming and separation operations are automatic and performed by a single integrated system, eliminating semi-finished parts and reducing manual interventions.
  • High repeatability and reduced cycle times due to integrated workflows and controlled tool movement.

Modular automation
The system supports multiple loading/unloading strategies to increase autonomy, including:
  • Production of single parts.
  • Production of multiple parts and nests, microjointed or separated, with preservation of scrap and unloading of the skeleton.
  • Production of multiple parts and separated nests with destruction of the skeleton for flow processing.

Adaptive system
The S1 integrates adaptive technologies making the system intelligent and automatically responsive to variations:
  • Centering control system measures incoming sheets and adapts programs to actual dimensions.
  • Two-carriage manipulator adjusts dynamics based on sheet dimensions and weight.
  • Automatic compensation for thermal expansion of manipulator axes to guarantee positioning precision.
  • Tool movement drive with controlled descent reducing cycle times and improving punching quality.

Multi-press head
The multi-press head uses a die-structure that can house up to 59 tools. Each tool is actuated individually and is always available, eliminating in-cycle set-ups. This guarantees high punch-die alignment precision and enables advanced machinings such as offset, ribbing and tapping without frequent tool changes.

Manipulator and handling
The manipulator features two independent carriages that center and clamp the sheet during punching and cutting operations. Each carriage has three independently opening extended grippers (one with variable set-up) to reach all areas of the sheet. The X-axis stroke of the two carriages is 3450 mm, enabling processing without regripping.

Laser cutting
The integrated fiber laser enables production and separation of parts of any geometry and dimension. Available laser source powers are 2000 W or 3000 W, enabling high linear cutting speeds and precision for irregular contours. Assist gases include nitrogen and compressed air, depending on the application.

Tapping
An optional electrical tapping unit can be installed at the side of the operating head; it can house up to 6 different tapping tools for in-cycle tapping operations.

Tools
Thick turret and special tools are designed and produced within the Salvagnini Group (Matrix) which controls the production chain for these tools. Tool types supported include B, C, D and MultiTool stations for a wide range of punching and forming operations.

Software & interfaces
FACE is the Salvagnini human-machine interface used across the product range. STREAM (programming suite) automates programming and nest optimization for combined punching and laser cutting. OPS is the modular production management software for exchanging real-time information with factory ERP/MRP. LINKS is Salvagnini’s IoT solution for monitoring machine performance and analyzing data.
