Overview
The L5 is a high-dynamics fiber laser system for fast, high-precision cutting of thin to medium-thin sheet metal. Designed for industrial nesting workflows, it combines compass kinematics, a single optical head and advanced process control for rapid cycle times and consistent part results.

Airplane structure
Salvagnini patented load-bearing beam with a lightweight airplane manipulator delivers high rigidity, fast positioning and full accessibility of the worktable for loading and maintenance.

Salvagnini laser head
Single optical head covers the full range of workable thicknesses without manual adjustments. DRY-COOLING actively controls optics temperature to maintain stable beam quality during production changes.

Advanced compass
Reduced-inertia compass design uses rotary motors to move the head on the XY plane with accelerations up to 5 g on short movements, governed by a dedicated algorithm in the proprietary NC for precise path control.

Adaptable cutting functions
Multiple cutting modes (Standard, PowerCut, DynamicCut) let you select the best process for each material and geometry. TRADJUST automatically modulates cutting parameters by trajectory to simplify parameter management.

ACUT option
ACUT enables cutting with suitably treated compressed air, offering productivity comparable to nitrogen in many cases with lower gas cost, broadening supply options for cutting gas.

Artificial vision applications
  • AVS: accelerates sheet centering using references from prior operations without geometry restrictions.
  • SVS: captures images of remnants and converts them to usable DXF geometry for nesting recovery.
  • NVS: inspects beam centering and nozzle condition with machine-learning support to suggest corrective actions and reduce scrap.


Human-machine interface (FACE)
FACE is the Salvagnini HMI across the product range; it provides a consistent, task-oriented interface for programming, job management and operator guidance.

Software ecosystem
  • STREAM: programming suite to speed up program creation and reduce setup time.
  • OPS: modular production management software for real-time integration with factory ERP/MRP and production optimization.
