Flange Spiral Wound Gasket
Spiral Wound Gasket is a high-performance sealing gasket made of alternately spirally wound metal strips and non-metallic filler materials. It has both the strength of metal and the good sealing properties of flexible fillers. It is particularly suitable for harsh working conditions such as high temperature, high pressure and easy corrosion. It is one of the most widely used composite gaskets in industrial flange sealing.
DESCRIPTION
1. Structural composition:
Spiral wound gaskets usually consist of three parts:
Metal belt (V-type or W-type)
Material: stainless steel 304, 316L, 321, Monel, Inconel, etc.
Provide structural strength and elastic support, strong temperature and pressure resistance
Filling material
Commonly used: flexible graphite (high temperature resistant), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, corrosion resistant), asbestos-free fiber
The filling layer can be selected according to the medium to provide sealing performance
Inner ring / outer ring (optional)
Inner ring: prevent extrusion at the inner diameter of the gasket and improve sealing stability
Outer ring: easy to position, prevent excessive compression, usually carbon steel or stainless steel
2. Main features:
✅ High temperature and high pressure resistance
Can withstand temperatures ranging from -200°C to +650°C, pressures up to 25MPa or more, suitable for supercritical conditions
✅ Good resilience and reliable sealing
The elastic combination of metal and non-metallic materials enables it to maintain a stable seal under conditions such as thermal expansion and pressure fluctuations
✅ Corrosion-resistant and chemical-resistant
