The FBS, a special version of the VNS0, is a joystick developed for drive-brake operation in light-rail vehicles and many other rail vehicles. It has been tested in practice over many years and has an impressively long service life and high reliability. In addition to its modular ergonomic design, it is resistant to ozone and UV radiation, so it can withstand harsh conditions. The deadman function provided with various handle shapes is achieved partly by mechanical-electrical means and partly with capacitive sensors and evaluating electronics. Possible switch versions vary from simple step switches to potentiometer switches to switches with encoders.
