Hard chrome plating is used as a wear-resistant coating in mechanical applications where friction conditions are severe. Chrome plating involves coating a metal part with chrome, with the thickness varying depending on the desired improvement. This deposit is produced by electrolysis in a chrome solution. The recharging time is proportional to the thickness of the chrome and the surface of the part. All types of parts can be treated (cylindrical, flat or any other shape). The deposit thickness can vary between 5µm and 1 mm. Cylindrical grinding and polishing are necessary to finish the parts in the main cases.
This operation can be carried out by center-to-center grinding with capacities of Dia 520 x 3000 mm up to 500 kg or by centerless grinding. Polishing improves the surface finishes to a roughness of Ra 0.1.
Revel is able to process both new and used parts thanks to its chemical dechroming facility with a capacity of Dia 300 x 4500 mm up to a limit of 500 kg.
