Description

Overview
TRUMPF TruFlow CO2 lasers are continuous-wave beam sources for industrial material processing. Wavelength 10.6 µm. Available power variants cover continuous ranges from 100 W up to 20 000 W, supporting cutting, welding and surface treatment of metals, organic materials, composites and glass.

Key benefits
  • Square resonator design for mechanical and thermal stability.
  • Optimized cooling and energy management for high efficiency.
  • Wear-minimised gas circulation and RF excitation for long service intervals.
  • Encapsulated beam guidance with integrated optical elements to maintain beam quality and clean optics.
  • Continuous monitoring of temperature and contamination for stable operation.

Applications
  • Thin and thick sheet cutting
  • Welding including thick-sheet and deep-penetration welds
  • Surface treatment
  • Tubes and profiles with continuous, non-porous seams
  • Differential gear welding
  • Processing of CFRP
  • Wood and organic material processing
  • EUV plasma generation on tin droplets
  • Hybrid welding and coil joining in heavy industry

Design and technology details
The TruFlow packs long quartz discharge tubes into a compact square resonator on two levels. Resonators are assembled and adjusted in a clean room with patented mounts for deflection mirrors. Mechanical and optical resonator components are water-cooled; dedicated coolers stabilise cooling-water temperature within ±0.5 °C. Integrated beam-formation components (phase shifter, circular polariser, diameter adjustment mirror, beam telescope, pilot laser) can be installed under the hood. Radial turbine blowers with magnetic bearings deliver high gas flow rates for energy-efficient excitation-to-laser-power conversion and wear-free blower operation.
