Description

Helical gears are similar to spur gears except that the teeth are cut at an angle to the axis of the shaft (helix angle). The helix cut creates a wider contact area, enabling higher strengths and torques to be achieved. Helical gear sets run more quietly and smoothly than spur gears, and are slightly less efficient. Helical gears can run on parallel shafts or may be offset as much as the helix angle will permit. Axial thrust loads are developed during operation and must be considered when selecting bearings and mounting arrangements. Precision Helical Gear Manufacturing Options Pitch: 16 to 64 DP & 1.5 to .4 MOD Materials: Aluminum, Stainless Steel Helical Hand Configurations: LH & RH Bore Size: ⅛” to 5/16” Number of Teeth: Up to 160 Berg offers AGMA-quality helical gears with standard pressure angles of 20 degrees and standard helix angles of 45 degrees. Filter our standard helical gear catalog below to narrow options by type, helical hand, pitch, gear bore and number of teeth. We manufacture helical gearboxes and custom helical gears.
