Description

The Cavex® dewatering cyclone is designed to deliver a consistent underflow density regardless of solids content variation in the feed. It contains a discharge regulator to increase overall performance and efficiency in tailings, sand and aggregate applications. Overview The Cavex® dewatering cyclone features the innovative laminar spiral inlet geometry design of the original Cavex® hydrocyclone range, but with additional accessories that allow it to create a dry and stackable product. The hydrocyclone is usually fitted on a boom that can be rotated and adjusted. It also contains a discharge regulator (e.g. fishtail, duckbill, flapper) below the spigot to increase efficiency and deliver a consistent underflow density, regardless of solids content variation in the feed. The extended overflow pipe induces a siphon effect which creates a vacuum on the cyclone discharge regulator, causing it to close and trap the majority of the water, silts and clays. The regulator forces a higher percentage of water, silts and clays to the overflow. When the weight of the solids inside the hydrocyclone regulator is sufficient to overcome the vacuum, the thick underflow product discharges from the regulator. The control of the material reporting to the underflow results in a much higher underflow density than otherwise obtainable. The Cavex® dewatering cyclone is best suited to tailings, desliming and dewatering applications.
