Overview
Most ZIEHL-ABEGG external-rotor motors are fitted with thermostatic switches (TB). Explosion-proof external-rotor motors include temperature probes (TP). IEC-standard motors may integrate TP or PTC thermistors. Commercial motor protectors or bimetal line releases that operate only on current or temperature often provide incomplete protection. ZIEHL-ABEGG motor protection devices deliver reliable protection and monitoring, including for motors driven by voltage control or operating at high switching frequency. The devices prevent automatic restart after a fault-related cool-down and allow protection of multiple motors by a single unit.

ZIEHL-ABEGG supplies protection and monitoring devices that evaluate signals from thermostatic switches (TB) and temperature probes (TP/PTC) to protect and supervise these motors. Versions are available for single-phase (1~) and three-phase (3~) supplies.

Properties & special features

• 3~ motor protection units monitor integrated thermostatic switches (TB), providing full thermal motor protection and enabling straightforward current distribution to multiple fans.
• Multiple fans can be connected to a single 3~ unit; an integrated overcurrent trip provides line protection (safety/fuse function).
• 1~ units monitor one connected motor each (TP thermostatic switch).
• Monitoring devices for temperature probes (TP) also enable protection of explosion-proof motors and support PTC-triggered shutdown.
