General informationThe Q-Probe SS20.BQ is a potentiometric solid-electrolyte (zirconia) oxygen probe. Different oxygen activities at the electrodes (reference electrode exposed to ambient air) generate a voltage proportional to the logarithm of oxygen partial pressures. From the probe signal the quotient of partial pressures of gases reacting with oxygen can be calculated, enabling control of redox-related furnace atmospheres. The Q-Probe is calibration-, drift- and maintenance-free when used correctly. High-quality components ensure long-term stability.
ApplicationsThe probe is designed for monitoring protective atmospheres and for controlling partial oxidation (redox quotient, oxidation character KO) in heat-treatment processes for metallic materials. It is also used in nitriding and nitrocarburizing processes. Combined with a QE-probe signal, the Q-Probe allows control of nitriding character KN and, taking unburnt gas into account, carburizing character KC.
