Once upon a time there was a shoemaker who made the perfect shoes. Everyone who bought and wore these shoes was absolutely delighted and only wanted to have shoes made by him. Word got around and many more people wanted shoes from this cobbler.

The other shoemakers were envious, started spying and spoke to the cobbler. He answered all their questions without any hesitation.

They asked about the leather, the finish, the seams, the soles, the lining - and he answered everything truthfully.

They began to make the shoes according to the shoemaker's exact specifications - but they were not successful.

The shoemaker had not told you the most important thing - because that was not asked: what he would do first and foremost.

That important step - before the shoemaker started working on the new shoes - was: he had people bring him a pair of old, worn-in shoes and asked specifically about the customer's exact needs and wishes. He then made the shoes according to what the feet needed. THAT WAS HIS SECRET.
